Recent Announcements

  • Important information about the Required Statewide Assessments Participation Criteria and Accessibility Features for School Year 2018-19 is now available in the Hawaii DOE memo posted in the Resources > Hawaii DOE Memos section. The memo includes a list of the required assessments for SY 2018-2019; criteria for students who must participate in the required assessments; and information about embedded and non-embedded accessibility features for all assessments.

  • Registration is now open for the Winter 2019 Smarter Balanced Test Coordinator Training. Please click the button on the right-hand side of the Smarter Balanced home page to access the online registration form, or click here to access the form directly.   • The 2018-2019 testing window is now open for block-scheduled high schools to administer the Grade 11 Smarter Balanced ELA/Literacy and Mathematics assessments.

  • Hawaii is participating in a pilot test to auto-score short response (1- and 2-point items) on the Smarter Balanced Interim tests. When your students take the Smarter Balanced Interims, some of the ELA and math items will be auto-scored and you will be able to review, and change if necessary, the scoring of those items in AIRWays Reporting using the same procedures you currently use to review auto-scoring of responses to full writes on the ELA Performance tasks. On December 10, we will send out a link to a survey asking about your experience with auto-scoring short-response items. Specifically, we will be asking about whether you think condition codes and scores were assigned accurately and whether you attempted to change any item’s scores.
